How Might we
design a two-page magazine spread using design principles?
Chosen topic
After learning about effective layout designs coupled with design principles, we were encouraged to brainstorm as many different layouts as possible for our spread, whether they would ultimately work or not.

Final design
Here are the changes I made following critique from classmates and my professor:
Carried the blue from the top right bar into the sub-heading and captions to break up the text further
Breaking up all the body text with another image and caption
Made the loading screen graphic clearer with using appropriate colors that matched the elements
Adjusted caption size to distinguish it from the overall body text
type of magazine
A type of gaming magazine that as a whole informs readers about up and coming games, current favorites, and updates of established, popular games.
I wanted to have one main image to be a visual target for my readers. I originally thought about having an image on one page and the text on the other.
From feedback, I better understood that my roughs needed to have more detail about the specific content and elements.
I edited official concept artwork in Photoshop before transferring them to InDesign.
I wanted to highlight the game’s artwork through having the main image stretch across both pages. This would also break up the body text. I also wanted to incorporate the loading screen graphics that are in the game when players log in as a border between the title and the body.
